Vietnam Backroads offers bicycle tours enables you to cycle through
one of the most beautiful countries in Asia. Vietnam is famous for its
lush green rice paddies, rich traditional culture, beautiful beaches,
and delicious Vietnamese food. Vietnam's economy was severely affected
during the Vietnam War and the hardworking people of Vietnam have been
battling to raise their economic standing ever since.
Day 01: Ha Noi - Ha Long - Ha Noi (L/D)
Enjoy
a 2 1/2 hour morning driving to Ha Long Bay, the World Cultural
Heritage site of outstanding natural beauty. Enjoy a 5 hour boat trip
through the bay, including a fresh seafood lunch which will prepared and
served on board. Enjoy swimming and kayaking during the boat trip.
Drive back to Ha Noi in the late afternoon
Day 02: Ha Noi city tour - take a night train to Hue (B/L/)
Full
day city tour, visit Ho Chi Minh mausoleum (close on Monday), One
Pillar Pagoda, the Temple of Literature in the morning. In the
afternoon, visit the Museum of Ethnology, Hoan Kiem Lake and the Old
Quarters of Ha Noi. Take the overnight Reunification train to the city
of Hue.
Day 03: Hue city tours (B/L/D) (40 km)
The
next morning you will be in Hue. Ride to visit the Forbidden City, the
former capital of Vietnam. Continue riding to Thien Mu pagoda, the
oldest architecture in Hue. Follow single track trails to the Tombs of
the 13 ruling Nguyen Dynasties. In the afternoon, cycle through the
countryside of Hue to visit the Thanh Toan bridge which was built in
1776. It is the oldest wooden bridge in Vietnam. Then continue cycling
past rice fields on rural roads to Hue city in the late afternoon.
Day 04: Hue – Hoi An (B/L/) (100 km)
Have
breakfast and a short drive out of Hue. Start riding on the coastal
roads to Phuoc Tuong Pass. Pedal past ancient burial-grounds, rice
farming lands, and fishing villages. Have lunch in Lang Co beach. After
lunch, pedal uphill to the top of Hai Van Pass, then keep pedaling
downhill. Transfer to Hoi An in late afternoon
Day 05: Hoi An – My Son (B/L/) (40 km)
Start
riding from Hoi An to My Son, the Champa Imperial city of the 4th to
12th centuries. Ride through rural villages to My Son, spend an hour
visiting the large complex of religious ruins comprising more than 70
architectural remains. Transfer back to Hoi An for lunch. Free for
shopping in town of Hoi An.
Day 06: Hoi An - Quang Ngai (B/L/D) (80 km)
Have
breakfast at the hotel and check out. Cycle south of Hoi An to Cua Dai
beach and cross Thu Bon river. Ride on back roads through yellow sand
dunes to Tam Ky. Have lunch before transferring to Chau O for an
afternoon bike ride. Ride on country roads to My Lai village to visit
the memorial of the massacre to remember 504 locals who died. Continue
cycling to the hotel in the town of Quang Ngai.
Day 07: Quang Ngai – Qui Nhon (B/L/D) (100 km)
A
morning transfer to ocean villages on the outskirts of Quang Ngai. Ride
through rice fields and rural villages and coconut tree plantations
along the ocean. Lunch at a local restaurant, then continue an afternoon
of riding on beautiful back roads through mountainous areas to the city
of Qui Nhon. Transfer for 20 minutes to the city of Qui Nhon.
Day 08: Qui Nhon - Nha Trang (B/L/) (85 km)
Transfer
30 minutes to the suburb of Qui Nhon city, start cycling on back roads
and racing with the Reunification train, rocking and rolling on bike on
hilly back roads. Have a picnic lunch, continue your bike ride in the
afternoon and finish today's ride in countryside of Tuy Hoa. Transfer to
Nha Trang in the late afternoon. Overnight in Nha Trang.
Day 09: Nha Trang boat trip (B/L/)
Boat trip to the Island for swimming and snorkeling for the whole day. Free in the evening.
Day 10: Nha Trang – Dalat (B/L/) (100 km)
Transfer
30 minutes to Dien Khanh ancient town, start to pedal easily on back
roads in the morning, pedal past brick factories, rice fields, and have
lunch en route. In the afternoon, continue to pedal rolling hills, and
cross Truong Son mountain range to Dalat. Overnight in Dalat.
Day 11: Dalat city tour (B/L/) (30 km)
Enjoy
a half-day city tour by bus/van in the morning. Visit Bao Dai palace,
"Crazy House", and the old French railway station. Lunch in town, in the
afternoon, ride a 30 km loop on country roads, passing by flower
gardens and strawberry plantations.
Day 12: Dalat- Phan Thiet (B/L/D) (90 km)
Transfer
for an hour south of Dalat. Ride on rolling hills through a valley,
mountain area, hydroelectric power station and coffee plantations in
the morning. In the afternoon, cycle down hill passing many minority
villages and cashew garden as we head to to Phan Thiet.
Day 13: Phan Thiet – Lagi – Saigon (B/L) (60 km)
Starting
your last day of cycling on asphalt coastal roads from countryside of
Phan Thiet city to Mom Da Chim resort for lunch before a transfer to
Saigon in late afternoon.
Day 14: Saigon - Departure (B/)
Enjoy your own free time until transferring to airport. End of tour.
